The Problem:
Westbury is situated in the west of Johannesburg, South
Africa. This marginalised community of 13 500+ members is
plagued with a number of social ills like high unemployment,
substance abuse and gangsterism. According to police crime
statistics in 2018-2019, the Sophiatown policing precinct, in
which Westbury falls, dealt with 5 389 reported crimes. This
community has to date been socially and economically
excluded and most often providing a bleak outlook for youth
within the community.
Our Solution:
Mashup combines innovation and experience into an
integrated plan and solution that offers our partners a
vehicle to maintain their transformation targets by investing
into Westbury as well as consolidate their Corporate Social
portfolio. This people-centered approach supports Mashup's
strategy to continue to have an impact and change lives from
within the community, while addressing key pillars that
appeals to corporate sustainability and transformational
focus.
